WHAT IS 'BANDSPACE'? The radio2XS BandSpace forum is free and available to any new band or artist who want(s) to be auditioned for airplay on radio2XS. The idea is to give self-promoting bands (and their smaller/local labels) a chance to generate a page on our site which is then able to provide our listeners and music/record industry watchers with information about your band. You can add images (see above), gigs info, links to audio and to your own website.

SchwaB
  Artist: SchwaB
Single: ‘The Mole Man’
Label: Schwabmusic
Released Date: 19/11/07

“…There are no musical boundaries in SchwaB’s world. The preacherman delivery…rumbling bass grooves deliciously funky guitar licks…hip hop beats…assorted samples and drones...comprise their relentless block-rocking party tunes.”- Niall O’ Keeffe, NME

SchwaB released their debut album ‘The SchwaB Family System’, which was Rough Trades album of the week, in March this year. It was a retrospective selection of the best songs from the past 6 years. Tracks like ‘DJ’s in a Row’, ‘The Skinny Leg’ and ‘Hellth at Gordons’ received airplay on 6Music and XFM.

‘DJ’s in a row’ was used as the title track for the British Feature film ‘It’s all gone Pete Tong’ in 2005 and more recently, ‘The Greed’ was featured in a Sunday Times ‘Style’ advert in October 07.

The Dalston based fivesome have come back with the blistering single ‘The Mole Man’. The song is about an eccentric man, known locally as ‘The Mole Man’, who used to dig tunnels under his large dilapidated house at the end of Mortimer Road, Hackney (where SchwaB reside) and how the council and homeowners have conspired to stop his ad-hoc house becoming an eyesore.

His house became cause celebre when the council intervened as he had dug under a road which threatened to collapse a bus route. After this exposure in the press he would allow only artists and lawyers to stay in his customised house in return for help with fighting the council. He was recently evicted and his building has all but collapsed but this time the story hit the national press.

Schwab is predominantly a ferocious live band and has supported amongst others Billy Childish, Holly Golightly, Polar Bear, Selfish Cunt, The Fabulous Penetrators and HonkeyFinger.

Vicious Cabaret
  Vicious Cabaret
‘The Next Utopia Will Be Better’
Release Date: 26/11/07
Label: Borderline/Imprint Records

Having slashed through Leeds with their gritty, fast-paced sound, Vicious Cabaret is back to do more damage with a new album, “The Next Utopia Will Be Better”!

The band has gone into the studio with producer Mark Cawthra (formerly of the Cardiacs) and has come out with a razor-sharp, punk-angst style that rails against anything and everything in sarcastic, snarling lyrics. Citing diverse influences such as Little Richard, Jimi Hendrix and The Clash, they combine garage punk, art rock, and electric blues and create a swaggering rock that tears through amps in shockingly loud tones.

Vicious Cabaret recorded its debut EP- Twilight of the Gods – in early 2005 with producers Simon Humphrey (The Clash) and Pat Grogan (New Model Army), releasing it on their own Bordello Red Label. This initial release attracted the attention of underground press such as Trakmarx and Unpeeled, garnering praise for their unique style and hard-hitting live act.

Since their first album, the band has toured the UK a second time, supporting The Playmates until the end of 2005. The band also appeared alongside The Pigeon Detectives and The Sunshine Underground at Northern Invasion, held at the Luminaire in London in early 2006.

“Short, sharp, and slightly sinister tasting, Vicious Cabaret have the lyrical courage to match their musical conviction.” Trakmarx

“Vicious Cabaret are blatant in their thievery, creative in their use of goods and genuinely vicious in the way they slash it out.” Unpeeled
